i went for a funeral for the first time in my life!

hahhaa , not to sound mean or offensive but i really attended a funeral for the first time. My grandad passed away. Sadly, im not very close to him ; the only thing i've said to him was " ah gong! " and that's all. He kinda isolates himself in a room so i don't really get to see him even.

yeah and it was a buddhist funeral so my family was just watching them do the chanting etc (we were the only people in the 'close family'catergory who were not doing the buddhist stuff. you should know why ) today was the last day so the monks were doing the last bit of chanting and they requested that the whole family gather to offer gifts (oranges,that brown muffin-like thingy, flowers, and a-heck-lot-of-unknown-stuff) my dad had to go out of respect for my grandad cuz he was a 'nu3 xu4' (son-in-law) i thought it was funny that my dad was a 'nu xu' cuz i've always imagined them to be young and vibrant and smiley and everything , qualities which my dad probably does not possess or maybe he has them but has long abandoned them. okay im digressing.

anyway, after all that , everyone gathered and we were given a carnation flower each(if im not wrong), we had to walk round the coffin while throwing petals onto the floor , i found it quite amusing and i would have chuckled if not for the solemn-ess of the procedure. and and and, the weirdest thing was the moment where they all had to bow to the picture of my grandad cuz it was kinda not good to bow and weird to not bow, i managed a slight nod as a sign of respect but apparently no one paid any attention or chided me so i continued with it.

hahah random comment: i think that funeral clothes are very comfortable (white cotton shirt and blue cotton slacks ) hahah sorry i hope i did not offend anyone i really had to say this.

oh! and we had to eat vegetarian food for lunch and dinner, it really looked like meat, there was one time i was so hungry i lunged at the beef looking thing only to find out that it was flour.... but it was not bad anyway. the fake abalone was quite tasty :D hahha


alright, i shall stop here, i feel like changing my blogskin again.
oh if any 3L person reads this please tell me what homework i missed or something cuz i tried calling chen shu and vanessa but they never pick up thanks! ;D
